Straw bale day

Today we drove out to Deerhorn Valley, and spent the day with good friends. We all helped plaster a little bit of a straw bale house, built in part by my dear friend Nicki's dad, Paul.  Very beautiful area, and wonderful people.

who needs gloves?

The inside is amazing!

Here is a picture of Kevin swinging, the house is in the background.  Note the 1950s Caldwell Era Posts on the porch, originally from the Casa de Bandini (aka Cosmopolitan Hotel) in Old Town San Diego.

And then, came home to a lovely surprise, the Hoya is blooming.

Blooms and edibles in the garden

Some of the plants are blooming in the garden...

first strawberry of the season, woo-hoo!

Rue...

peppers

the prettiest amaryllis of them all

We planted corn, squash, carrots, poppies, basil (more basil because we like basil), & sunflowers, all from seed in our mini greenhouse.   Not much to see yet... hopefully soon.  Summer Solstice is coming up June 21st, wanted to give the seedlings a head start.
